Should I Book and MOT and Service Together

Whilst a valid MOT is a legal requirement, servicing is entirely optional, but strongly recommended to keep your car running smoothly. Booking the two together is generally more convenient as it just means one annual trip to a garage. Some garages even offer deals if you combine the two.

It's a legal requirement that cars, vans and motorcycles have a valid MOT once they are 3 years old. Some vehicles like taxis and minibuses require an MOT from 1 year old. The penalty for driving a vehicle without a valid MOT is a fine of up to £1,000. Don't forget you can have a new MOT test done up to 30 days before the old one expires without changing the anniversary date (so effectively your MOT would be valid for just under 13 months).

This will depend on the make and model of your vehicle, but should typically be around 2 hours. For convenience many of our partners offer a colllect and deliver service so you can get on with your day.
